What Should You Do?

 Own Your Condition

If you’re directionally challenged, one of the first things I’d like you to do is own your condition. By that, I mean – there’s really no shame in being directionally challenged, so just let your guard down and admit that you get disoriented easily, and often.

I know that there are many people like you out there, most of them hiding their difficulties and scolding themselves for being stupid—when really there’s a very good reason they don’t know their left or their right, or they can’t competently navigate from Point A to Point B! And this has no bearing at all on their intelligence. I truly hope that you are not one of those people. It is what is it! You may not be able to tell left from right, east from west or north from south; but I’m willing to bet that there are many, many things that you can do, and that you do at least some of them really well!

Therefore, if you make light of your condition to others, secretly hoping that no one tasks you with anything that requires you to go somewhere new or help someone find their way. Or, if you go out of your way to invent elaborate reasons as to why you take such an inordinately long time to complete a journey; perhaps you laugh it off, putting yourself down in the process, which only makes you feel worse, you may as well, just be honest! It’s much easier to just admit that for most of the time, you don't know your left from your right, and you can't identify east, west north or south!

What do you think?

I hope you not only own your condition, but you will see that there are strategies, that if they're properly implemented, can help not only you, but others who are like you.

Please join our Movement to make directional challenge recognizable to those who don't know it, so that together, we can implement policies that will make life easier for all concerned.

I need your help. I need your voice. I need your support. Won't you join me in this endeavor?

I hope you will.
