What Am I Gonna Do About It?

The question should really be: What have I done about it?

You see, for years and years, I contemplated my inability to decipher left from right, my propensity to get lost at every turn; my absolute ineptness as I tried to move from one point to another, either on foot or while driving; and I purposed that one day, I would write about what it felt like, to be a supposedly intelligent person who is clueless about orientation (knowing where I am, in relation to where I need to go) and navigation, being able to - with autonomy, certainty and accuracy - move from one location to another.)

It really helped that I have encountered many persons who are just like me. And the fact that our stories are so similar convinced me that we are clueless about directions, not because we're inately stupid; not because we do not pay attention to details; not necessarily because we have an attention deficit, but simply because of who and how we are.

So I wrote this book: Center Brained: Why you can't tell left from right, east from west or north from south because, first of all, I want directionally challenged people to to stop feeling shame for not being able to navigate as others do, and I want those who have no difficulty identifying their left and right, and the four cardinal points, to be empathetic with us, to try to walk a mile in our shoes, and to understand what we experience on a daily basis.

Once the level of shame comes down, and the level of awareness goes up, then, we can begin to create strategies for making things better.

My book is available on Amazon.

Soon it will be available from other sources; and for those who prefer to listen rather than read, the audio book will soon be out.

But, as I said, I do not just want to showcase the difficulties faced by the directionally challenged. I also want the directionally well-oriented to understand what we experience on a daily basis; that we’re not stupid; it’s because of how our brains are wired that we act the way we do.

In addition, I want the captains of industry, legislators, scientists, educators and therapists to visit or revisit the notion of neurodiversity, so that ample consideration can be given, and full accommodation made, to alleviate the suffering of the directionally challenged.

I need your help. I need your voice. I need your support. Won't you join me in this endeavor?

You can visit my youtube channel @ https://www.youtube.com/@eulenegreenland6433 to listen to my song about being directionally challenged (hilarious!), or visit my website @ https://www.epatsygreenland.com to get or share some more ideas.

I hope you will.
